The usual path to become an IAS officer is through the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) Civil Services Examination (CSE), which is a multi-stage examination consisting of the Preliminary Exam, the Main Exam, and the Personality Test (Interview).

    The CSE is typically considered to be one of the most difficult and competitive examinations in India and it takes a lot of hard work, preparation, and dedication to clear it. The average time for most candidates to clear the CSE is around 2-3 years or even more, through multiple attempts.

    However, there are other ways to become an IAS officer within 5 years, such as:

    Through the Civil Services Examination (CSE) for graduates, also known as the Direct Recruitment for Graduates (DR-Graduates)
