Becoming an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer is considered to be a challenging and competitive process. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination (CSE) to select candidates for the IAS and other civil service positions. The CSE is widely considered to be one of the most difficult and competitive exams in the country.

To become an IAS officer, candidates must first pass the UPSC Civil Services Examination. This exam is divided into three stages:

The preliminary exam, also known as the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), which tests candidates on general knowledge and aptitude.

The main exam, which consists of written tests on various subjects such as general studies, essays, and optional subjects.

The personal interview, which tests the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and overall suitability for the job.

The competition for the IAS is intense, with thousands of candidates competing for a limited number of positions. The pass percentage for the exam is also very low, usually around 5-7%.

Additionally, it’s also a hard job after getting selected as an IAS officer, it requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and long hours, as well as the ability to handle high levels of stress and responsibility.

Overall, becoming an IAS officer is a challenging and competitive process that requires a great deal of dedication and hard work. But, if you are passionate about serving your country and making a difference, it can be a very rewarding career.
