The UPSC Civil Services Examination is a competitive exam in India that is conducted to select candidates for various posts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others. The exam is comprised of three stages: the preliminary exam, the main exam, and the interview. The main exam includes two compulsory papers and four optional papers, and candidates can choose any optional subject that they are qualified to take. Physics is not one of the compulsory papers and can be chosen as an optional subject.
