There is no specific requirement for the number of hours that IIT students should sleep. The amount of sleep an individual needs can vary depending on factors such as age, lifestyle, and overall health. The National Sleep Foundation recommends that young adults (ages 18-25) aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.

However, the sleep duration may vary depending on the student’s schedule and workload. Some students may find that they need more sleep to function well during the day, while others may require less. It is important for students to pay attention to their own bodies and make sure they are getting enough sleep to feel rested and alert. Studies have shown that lack of sleep can affect the ability to concentrate, memory, and overall academic performance.

The passing marks for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) vary depending on the program and level of study.

For the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) which is the entrance exam for admission to the undergraduate programs at the IITs, there is no specific passing marks. The JEE is divided into two parts: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Candidates who score well in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

For JEE Main, the marks are calculated based on the percentile system which is designed to rank the students based on the relative performance. The percentile score represents the percentage of students who have scored below a particular score.

For JEE Advanced, the marks are calculated based on the raw score, which is the number of correct answers. The cut-off for JEE advanced is determined by the number of seats available, the number of candidates appearing for the exam, and their performance in the test.

For the undergraduate program, the passing marks for most of the courses is around 40-50% of the total marks in each subject and the passing criteria may vary from institute to institute.

It’s important to note that the passing marks are not the only criteria for success, the academic performance and overall development of the students are also important factors.

It is difficult to say which branch is the lowest in IITs as the enrollment and acceptance rate for each branch varies from year to year and also from institute to institute. Also, the popularity of a branch is subjective, as what one student may consider as the “lowest” branch, another student may find to be the most interesting and challenging.

However, it’s worth mentioning that some branches such as Agricultural and Food Engineering, Textile Engineering and Fibre Science, Architecture, and Design are offered by very few IITs, so the number of students who opt for these branches is relatively low compared to other popular branches such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

It’s also important to note that the popularity of a branch does not necessarily indicate its level of difficulty or the career opportunities it offers. It’s always recommended to research and explore the different branches offered and choose the one that aligns with your interests, aptitude and career goals.
