The passing marks for the Common Admission Test (CAT) exam vary depending on the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other B-schools that you are applying to, as each institute sets its own cut-off marks for the exam. Generally, the cut-off for CAT is around 85-95 percentile, but it can vary from year to year and from institute to institute.
It’s important to note that the CAT exam is divided into three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Each section is scored separately, and the total score is the sum of the scores in each section. It’s also important to note that the CAT exam is a computer-based test and the scores are normalized across sections and across test days.
It’s also worth noting that most of the institutes which accept CAT scores as a criteria for admission, have a minimum percentage cut off, usually around 50-55% in graduation, so you need to have completed graduation in order to be eligible to give CAT.
