The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam is open to candidates from all educational backgrounds, and there is no specific degree that is considered more useful than others. However, many UPSC aspirants tend to have a degree in the following fields:

Political Science and International Relations: This degree provides an understanding of the Indian political system, international relations, and governance. It is considered useful for the Indian Polity and Governance and International Relations sections of the UPSC exam.

Economics: This degree provides an understanding of economic theory, policy, and the Indian economy. It is considered useful for the Economic and Social Development section of the UPSC exam.

History: This degree provides an understanding of the historical background of India and the world. It is considered useful for the Indian Heritage and Culture, and Modern India section of the UPSC exam.

Public Administration: This degree provides an understanding of the functioning of government and its administration. It is considered useful for the Governance, Public Policy and International Relations section of the UPSC exam.

Law: A law degree provides an understanding of the Indian legal system, laws, and constitution. It is considered useful for the Indian Polity and Governance and Governance, Public Policy and International Relations sections of the UPSC exam.

It’s important to note that having a degree in a particular field does not guarantee success in the UPSC exam. UPSC exam tests your understanding and knowledge in different subjects, and your education background may give you an edge in some of the subjects, but it is not the only deciding factor. Consistency in preparation, good time management, and a positive attitude are also important factors for success in the UPSC exam.
