The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) is conducted in English and Hindi. Candidates are given the option to choose the medium of the exam. However, it’s worth noting that the medium of the exam does not affect the candidate’s chances of success in the exam, it is the candidate’s knowledge, understanding of the subject, and performance that matters.
That being said, most of the resources and study materials for the UPSC CSE are available in English. English is also the medium of instruction in most of the prestigious institutes, coaching centers and universities. Therefore, it’s generally recommended that candidates who are more comfortable with English choose that as the medium of the exam.
However, if Hindi is the candidate’s first language, and he/she is more comfortable with Hindi, then they should choose Hindi as the medium of the exam. It is important that the candidate is comfortable with the medium of the exam as it will enable them to express their ideas and understanding of the subject more effectively.
It’s also worth noting that the UPSC Civil Services Examination is a highly competitive examination, and the medium of the exam is not the only determinant of success in the exam. The candidate’s knowledge, understanding of the subject, and performance are the key factors that determine success in the UPSC CSE.
