The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks are considered to be a valuable resource for preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) as they provide a comprehensive coverage of the syllabus and are written in a clear and concise manner.

For preparing for the UPSC CSE, it is recommended to read the following NCERT textbooks:

Class VI to X: Social Science – History, Geography, Economics, Political Science
Class XI and XII: Indian Economic Development, Indian Constitution at Work, Indian Polity, Governance in India, Democratic Politics
Class XI and XII: Contemporary World Politics, International Relations
The NCERT textbooks for science and mathematics till class X are also recommended as they provide a good foundation for the concepts that are tested in General Studies Paper II and Paper VI and VII.

It’s worth noting that the UPSC Civil Services Examination is a highly competitive examination, and the NCERT textbooks should be used as a reference along with other study materials such as newspapers, magazines, and online resources.

It’s always advisable to the candidates to have a clear understanding of the exam pattern and syllabus, have a regular study schedule, focus on the important topics, and regularly evaluate their progress before attempting the UPSC CSE.
